April 30 & May 1, 2015

A short and sweet message on the back of the card.

"Hello! My name is Olga.  I'm from Moscow.  Happy Postcrossing!  :-)

The late, great Freddie Mercury
There were some amazing stamps on the back of this postcard.  I really like the bee stamp.

Sabrina wrote, "Hello, I've chosen this card because there is my favourite food on it.  I think this postcard is quite cute, hope you'll like it too!

I do like the card, but I rarely eat doughnuts anymore!

The stamps were split up on the back of the card, so I had to scan them separately.  Very nice ones!

British Duo - Actress and Book

April 28, 2015

Two great cards from the UK arrived on the same day recently.  Have a look!

***
23 April 2015 St.  George's Day, England's Patron Saint

This is the 800th Postcrossing card that I have written.  I am happy to celebrate it with you on this auspicious day.  Leo

Reproduced from a stamp designed by Howard Brown, featuring an illustration of Mr. Pickwick from Character Sketches from Charles Dickens, c. 1890

Look at these cool stamps.  I've never seen the one with David Niven on it before, and The Holly and the Ivy stamp is very beautiful.  It must be quite old since it has a ½ pence on it too!  They seem to have been hand cancelled with a pen...I think it is strange, and I've not seen this one before.

My second card of the day came with a short message on the back.

"Hi, I am a teacher in a high school.  During the holidays I love to travel.  I was in Canada last summer (including Edmonton) and I will be visiting Japan this summer.  Julian

Brigitte Bardot

I love the Keats stamp, and the lighthouse stamp is very nice too!

Lithuania

April 27, 2015

Yurate sent this lovely card from Lithuania.  She writes, " My warm wishes come from Lithuania! I'm Yurate, live in a small village near our capital Vilnius.  I work at school as a teacher.  I like my pupils and we travel a lot.  I like writing projects, then we get grant and travel travel.  My pupils like making friends, meet new people, communicate with them.  We've visited many countries since 2008."

"Talking about family-I'm married and have two adult children - son and a daughter.  We all like travelling, sport and music.  Best, Yurate

Lithuania
Sadly, there's only a pre-printed stamp on the back, I think it is probably a prepaid card, like many that we get in Canada.  Oh well.

A lovely message and card.  Thanks so much :-)

China

April 27, 2015

Hi! Glad to send you this card and hope you like it.  I've never been to Japan before.  It must be a nice place, and in spring, sakura everywhere.  Spring is always too short in China.  Well.  Live is also too short :p.  At this time, I study sociology at school to get my master's degree.  And I'll be graduated in the next month.  Best wishes, Jasper.

I like this card, I just don't have any information about it.

These stamps are gorgeous, aren't they?  I love them.

Great Britain

April 25, 2015

This really interesting card came from Natalie.  She wrote me a lovely long message on the back of the card. I'll excerpt some of it for you.

She writes, " I hope this post card finds you well. Sorry it is late in reaching you.  Have been unwell ...".  She goes on to say, " The Grand Budapest Hotel is one of my favourite films too.  I also love all of the LOTR films and they're also my favourite books along with The Hobbit. "

"This card depicts Gas Street Basin in Birmingham City Centre, it's where most of the canals dock and the bridge now has lots of little padlocks on it.  Birmingham now has its very own love-lock bridge :)  Happy Postcrossing, Natalie"

Germany

April 25, 2015

This card came from Isa.  She writes, " I'm Isa, i live in Weisbaden, in the middle from Germany.  I live here with my boyfriend and my two dogs from Greece.  I hope you like the map.  Isa"

I'm guessing that she means the middle _of_ Germany and she meant _the card_ rather than the map!

Poland Black & White

April 18, 2015

Natalia sent this great card to me a few weeks ago.  She writes that the photo shows the Old Masych from Poznan the city where she's studying.  He's a symbolic and legendary character of a typical Poznan citizen.  She sees him almost everyday as he's placed near her faculty.

She wishes she could visit Japan one day as the culture somehow fascinates her and she's so curious what the life there is like.  Well, good luck to her!

She recently watched the great film 'The Judge' (2015) with the most handsome Robert Downey Jr.  It's awesome and totally worth recommendation.

She bids me take care.

Malaysia

April 14, 2015

Lyen sends many greetings from Malaysia.  She is sending this card and hopes I like it. She writes that she also likes movies, especially Japanese movies that describe family, children and loves.  She finds these kinds of movies touching :-) and notes that she is kind of sentimental! She closes by wishing me Happy Postcrossing and Good Day!

I believe that this is a Sock Monkey, but there isn't anything visible on the card about it!
Gorgeous stamps and I'm so happy to see another Air Mail Sticker!  It's hard to get them here in Japan!

Thanks so much Lyen :-)
