France - Movie Card

May 30, 2015

Emilie sent this great card to me from France.  She wrote in passionate red ink on the back, but I will stick to my black(err...white) if it is okay!

"Hi!  My name is Emilie, I'm 28 years old and I live in a little village in France, close to PARIS, our capital!  I'm a jewelry designer and I will open my business this year!  I choose this postcard because I saw you like cinema like me and Man of Steel it's one of my favorite movie, I LOVE Superman and Superheros so, I hope you like it too.  I send you a big kisses from my countries!!  See you!!  Emilie"

Man of Steel
I love these cute stamp goats, although I'm not a big fan of goats in reality!  Long story...don't ask!

Thanks Emilie!

Netherlands

May 30, 2015

Brecht sent this duplicate card to me with a very nice note on the back.

He wrote,"A famous actor and actress.  I think they are famous all over the world.

This weekend I will go to the southern part of the Netherlands to visit my sister.  I haven't seen her for a few months.  I am looking forward to it.  Happy Postcrossing   Greetings, Brecht."

Brecht noted on the card that "the stamp is a famous painter!"

The stamp is a photo of our king Filip.

I live in L____, a little city with an old historical centre: very nice.

I love reading, walking and I make patchwork.  Enjoy life!  Many hugs from Ria."

Poland - Black and White

May 28, 2015

This card arrived in an envelope recently.  There are gorgeous stamps all over the envelope.  Sadly, the message on the back of the card was typed but it was friendly.

Urszula wrote, " Hi!  My name is Urszula.  I am 59 years.  I live in Ilawa - Is a beautiful city in the northern part Polish.  Ilawa lies over lake Jeziorak-the longest lake in Poland.  Greetings from Polish - Urszula"

Netherlands Duo - Food and Movie

May 28, 2015

On May 28, I received 2 cards from the Netherlands.  One is a repeat of a card I received a few scant months ago.  I'm not sure why senders don't check my received cards...I always check when I am sending cards because I don't want to send a duplicate if I can help it.

Jolanda sent this pie card.  She didn't write too much about herself unfortunately.  She said that she lives in the east of the Netherlands.  She also gave me a recipe for apple pie which was very kind of her.

She also translated the blurb on the back of the card for me.  She said, " You are the cherry on my pie.  Will you drop in for a piece?"

The next card comes from Jan.

He writes, "A movie-postcard, is it a good choice? Yes, "Casablanca" is for me an all time favourite! (And Dr. Zhivago too...) My name is Jan, I am 69, a retired teacher/headmaster of a primary school.  My wife and I live in a small village in the north of this country, near the city of Groningen.  Enjoy your life in Japan, best wishes.  Jan"

Jan also used some lovely stamps on the back of his card, which I appreciate very much.

France

May 27, 2015

This card came in an envelope with a little letter from Julie in France.  She wrote me a charming little letter.

She said, " I hope this postcard you will like and it will enrich your collection."  She asked if I would be her pen-pal and gave her address, which I will not post here of course.  Then she said, " Have a good day!"

Unfortunately, I'm not looking for pen-pals, so I wasn't able to accept her offer.

Her card is beautiful though...

Merci beaucoup Julie!

Great Britain

May 27, 2015

I received this cool card from Owen in the UK.  I think it is beautiful.

He writes," My name is Owen and I live in Dorset on the South Coast of England.  The coastline here is a World Heritage Site as part of the Jurassic coast.  Discoveries here include the Ichythyosaurus, and Plesiosaurus.  You can easily find ammonites like the one on this card just lying on the beaches.
Best Wishes, Owen"

Thanks Owen!

Russia - Chocolate

May 20, 2015

This card came from Russia and has a gorgeous picture of chocolate and cinnamon on it.  The sender also wrote a recipe on the back for lemon cupcakes, which was very nice of her.

She wrote, " My name is  Natalia and I'm 20 years old student from Russia.  Now I want to tell you a recipe of lemon cupcakes.  I hope you like received.  [I'm not sure about the last word]"

I'm not posting the lemon cupcake recipe (although it sounds yummy) as there are a few things that I find hard to read and I don't want to put a recipe up that doesn't work because I can't read it.

China - Shaped Card

May 15, 2015

This cool card arrived in my mail box from China recently.

The sender wrote, "The picture food called 'Rice noodle roll'.  I'm sorry, I don't know how to make it. 'Rice noodle roll' has another mean, it's curse words.  But I don't know the origin."

Sadly, he or she didn't sign their name and their profile doesn't give many clues about them.  What they wrote about the curse words is rather interesting and very cryptic!

Beautiful bird stamps.

Russia

May 14, 2015

I got this great card from Russia and I'm going to tell you about the sender.

She writes,

"こんにちは! My name is Liza. I'm from Novosibirsk.  I like to watch anime, so I started to learn Japanese.  And I like to draw anime characters.  On this card Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.  It is located at the center of Novosibirsk.  01.05. 2015  Happy Postcrossing!"

Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre
The stamps were so big that I had to scan them separately.  They took up most of the top of the card. Beautiful!

Book'em!

May 11, 2015

On the above date, I received two postcards with bookshelves on them.  It is rather unusual to receive two related cards on the same day. Read on about them.

Simona wrote a short but sweet message to me.  She said, "Hello from Dusseldorf in Germany!  I am a student and I live with my four crazy pet birds who love to destroy my home.  Happy Postcrossing!

Thanks Marjonne!

China

May 9, 2015

SanYan sent me this great card from China.  I sent her back quite a long thank you for it, I hope she didn't think too badly of me or that it was too hard to read for her!

"Greetings from China!"

"A postcard of Remin Road in the city Dalian, and in the period of Japanese occupation.  It was called the "YAMAGATA" street in Dairen City.  Wish you like it!
I love Japan, Japanese anime, Tokyo Tower, Shinjuku Park.  I would watch Naruto and One Piece every week if possible.  My favourite is Digimon.  2014.8.1 I watched the 15th anniversary through the Internet.  Now, what I look forward to most is Digimon Adventure tri. which will be on at 2015.5.6.  I am very expected!  (I think that she probably means excited.)

Renmin Road
I love this fish stamp!  I don't think I've seen it before.

Ukraine - Black & White

May 7, 2015

Victor sent this card from the Ukraine recently and noted that the day he sent it was Charles Chaplin's birthday!

He writes, " Hello!  Warm greetings from Ukraine.  I'm Victor, 47 y.o.  I like sports and reading, work in my own business.  Regards.  16.04.15

Charles Chaplin
I did a little investigation about the brown stamp.  The stamp shows Vasyl Symonenko, a Ukrainian poet, activist and journalist.  He lived a very short life, and there is more information about him on Wikipedia at the link.
