Philippines - Food

This card came to me from -S- in the Philippines. She wrote a very friendly note on the back in all caps so it is a little hard to read.  I won't transcribe it in all caps though!

She wrote;

"Dear Helen,
Greetings from Manilla, Philippines. We went to Osaka last year and we love it. Specially, my kids. We love the culture, and food. I love Kyoto the most. Maybe one day, we can go to Tokyo side. My kids love the Japanese braised pork. It taste clean and easy to cook. Adobo is a Filipino version of braised pork. It taste better when you freeze it for more than 2 days. It's good with rice. But we love ramen more than rice. Have a nice day ahead. -S-"

I like recipe cards, but my only beef(!) with this one is that it doesn't have the method of cooking on it. Some cards put the ingredients on the front like this one, but the method on the back. There isn't any how to make it. Sigh. If I was motivated I could look it up I suppose. I did make a Chicken Adobo once or twice in my slow cooker and I really liked that!

I'm not sure why it shows as a pinkish card, it is the colour of cardboard, a light brown card.

Philippines - Tea

This great card came to me near the end of 2018 from the Philippines.  Miguel wrote a lovely friendly note on his card and used cool stamps so it was a very happy Postcrossing for me!

He wrote,

Dear Helen,

Hello from Manilla! I hope htis postcard reaches you well and that you are doing fine. You wrote that you like tea. May I ask what kind you drink? Personally, I like Jasmine tea. I don't know why they failed to include that in this postcard. I went to Taiwan last week and I enjoyed Jasmine Milk Tea. I must have had 10 servings of it. I would very much like to experience a Japanese tea ceremony. I'm sure tradition would add some kind of flavor to the tea.

Coffee, Tea and Pastries

Today the topic of the Linky Blog Party is Coffee, Tea and Pastries.  It's rather a delicious topic.  I have recently reintroduced coffee into my diet, but I love tea.  I have a huge bag full of different teas in my kitchen, and I drink them all the time!

 I have managed to find a Gotochi card that fits the topic.  Unfortunately, the Gotochi site is down at the moment so there aren't any links to the info for now.  This is a Morning Service. Many coffee shops serve customers coffee in the morning with sides that could include toast and salad.  It looks like this toast is being served with adzuki beans, a popular sweet in Japan. 

The next two cards are new and haven't been featured on my blog yet.  Their individual entries will be coming soon!

The first card came to me from Sweden and shows what looks like tea, coffee and some pastries, so really fits the theme.  There isn't any info about the card on the back, except for the illustrator's name: Annika Lundholm Moberg. 

It's a cute card!

Coffee and a doughnut...what could be simpler?  This cute little card arrived recently from Russia.  In Canada, most people go to Tim Horton's for coffee and doughnuts.  In Japan, the most common coffee shop is Mister Donut. Sadly, the one in our city closed recently.  

This beautiful shaped card came to me from the Philippines. It was sent by Susan who said this was in a series of shaped teapot cards.  She asked that I have a cup of tea for her when I received the card...I'm sure I did.  It got battered on the way, but I love the card anyway.

I have a lovely shaped card for your viewing pleasure today.  When I found this in my mailbox I was thrilled.  It is quite beautiful.  Add that to the friendly note on the back and I think this is a great postcrossing!

This card came from Susan in the Philippines.  She wrote, "Hello from the Philippines! I love tea and this teapot postcard is one of a series I love sending out to Postcrossing friends.  Please drink a cup for me when you get this.

It's the tail-end of summer here, but we've been having showers too, signalling the start of rainy season.  Susan"

I scanned the card with a black background.  It is a shaped card.  It did get a bit battered on the way,
but that adds to the charm.

What a pretty little stamp.  I can make out the word festival, but I don't know what else it represents.  Readers?

Edited to add that it is most likely Sinulog Festival, and of course, here is the Wikipedia article for those of you interested.

This card arrived in my mailbox with a scrawled note on the back and some gorgeous stamps.  The note may have been a little bit hard to read, but it is quite friendly.

Natalie wrote,"Happy Postcrossing to you.  I live in the capital city of Manila. Its a very busy metropolis to visit.  We have many fine beaches and nice restaurants! Hope you like this card I have for you!  Enjoy your day!  I love CROCHET too!!!"

These fruit stamps are beautiful. I've never seen a rose apple before!  The fish one is cute too.

This is the first card I have received from the Philippines so I was quite happy to get it.   Elle sent it and wrote a pleasant note on the back.

"Hi!  Greetings from the Philippines - the country in Southeast Asia with 7107 islands and with many waterfalls.  It is raining as I write this and I love the rain because it is relaxing for me :-) Wishing you all the best!  Elle"

This fifty-meter wide waterfalls has been dubbed as a "mini Niagara Falls".

This is the first stamp that I have seen from the Philippines, quite cute!
