Singapore

September 29, 2015

Wilson sent this great card to me from Singapore.  He wrote a very nice message all about the movies he likes and what he does in his free time.

He said, "Greetings from sunny Singapore!

The Capitol Theatre is an iconic old cinema building that has recently been restored.  In its heydays, I'm sure it has screened Casablanca and the likes ;-) I love movies too--The Sound of Music, Jurassic Park, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, and--yes--Boyhood are some of my faves.  It was a pity Boyhood missed out on the Best Picture Oscar!

I write short stories/poetry in my spare time too--you can check out @LittleShortStories on Instagram or thelittleshortstories.tumblr.com for my photos + tales.

I've visited Naoshima this year and will be visiting Japan again next April.  Happy Postcrossing! WILSON 10 Sep 2015

This is a lovely stamp.  I included the air mail sticker next to the stamp too.
Thanks Wilson!

Ching sent this card with a friendly note on the back.  She writes, "Greetings from Singapore!  Hope this card finds you well.  It is through Postcrossing I learnt about Gotochi cards.  Interesting :=) My sister got me a few Gotochi cards from her Japan business trips too.  Happy collection to us!  Regards, Ching"

Although this isn't a "proper" stamp, I rather like it as it isn't plain and boring!  What lovely orchids and there are many symbols of Singapore on it.

Singapore

August 6, 2015

This card came from Singapore.  It had a short and sweet message on the back of the card.

"Hi, greetings from Singapore!  Take good care of yourself, smile every single day!  All the best, Aloysius"

I haven't seen these stamps and they are quite interesting!  I think the blown up version might be easier to read, just click on the stamps below to see them larger!

Singapore Goodies

September 10, 2014

I recently received an envelope full of great stuff from Shan in Singapore.  I got the two postcards below,

a keyring from Singapore, a Hello Kitty bandage, and a money envelope with 10 Singaporean cents in it.  Sadly, the keyring's plastic was stuck to the view postcard and caused a bit of damage.

All of this great stuff was in an envelope, but there wasn't a note.  On the outside of the envelope she wrote, "Greetings from Singapore, something in kanji, How are you?"

This fabulous, beautiful stamp went almost all the way across the envelope.  How gorgeous is this?

I did feel a bit odd registering it however.  I didn't know which postcard to use, so I put both on my wall!

Thank you Shan!  I appreciate this lovely envelope.

Singapore

Micci sent this card from Singapore with a short message, but one which I appreciate.

She wrote, " Greetings from Singapore!  Hope all is well with you today.
This is a postcard of one of the famous theatres in the country.  The Esplanade has a great architectural design."

The blurb on the back of the card says "A world-class performance centre and arts hub in Singapore.  Its two eye-popping dome-shaped structures is an architectural marvel built on reclaimed land at cost of S$600 million."

Esplanade - Theatres On The Bay
I also really like these stamps.  They show Vanishing Trades, and feature two traditional jobs in Singapore, lantern maker and beaded slipper maker.
