Belarus - Art & Culture

 June 12, 2020

This card came from Belarus from Katerina.  She was a little unusual in that she used a printed message attached to her card. I do prefer actual handwriting, but since there all are sorts of reasons why people might send that to me, I don't mind. The good thing is I can actually read it!  She wrote about the culture of the people depicted on the card, which I enjoyed learning.

[handwritten in Belarussian] Hello!

Greetings from Belarus! My name is Katerina, I am 20 years old, I study in Germany, but I come from Minsk. I am very happy to send a postcard to Japan! I am interested in foreign languages and once tried to learn Japanese with a Japanese person. This is incredibly difficult! I like to learn different cultures and I want to send you a postcard with very interesting people - the Tatars. These are people who live in Russia and speak a language similar to Turkish. They usually practice Islam. There are also Tatars in my country, but very few of them.

[handwritten in English]

Best Wishes

Katerina

I really love the unusual stamps that I receive on my postcards, this one is no exception!

Thank you Katerina for the card and stamp!

Lenore sent this from Belarus with a lovely stamp and a short but cheerful message!

She said,

"Hello, my dear friend!

My name's Lenore and I'm from Belarus. I want to wish you all the best in this wonderful year!"

A late Christmas greeting.  Lovely any time of year!

The stamp was put on upside down, but is so lovely that I had to show it the "right" way up!

Belarus - Actress in Black & White

July 3, 2019

This card came to me from Natalia in Belarus.  She wrote a friendly note and wrote about movies, so I was very pleased with it!

She wrote,
"Dear Helen,
I'm Natalia from Belarus. I live in a small town not far from the capital city Minsk. My town is called Molodechno. 100, 000 people live here.
Recently I saw a film with L.diCaprio as the main actor. That was "Inception". I recommend it to you, too. "Interstellar" is one more that deeply touches. "The Prestige" and "The Illusionist" are also great.

Belarus

April 18, 2018

This card came from a girl in Belarus.  She wrote a cool note on the back and decorated the card a bit too.  It was a good one to receive.

She wrote,

Greetings from Belarus!

Dear Helen!
This card is from a 16-year-old girl who is really crazy about photography and playing the ukulele in her free time.

There's a station square on the card.  This place is sooooooooo beautiful!

i'm not a big fan of movies, but my favorite is "Leon". It's story tells about girl, who became an orphan (because her parents were killed) and her friend-serial killer, who saved her and helped to take revenge.

Have a nice day!

Station Square. "Gates of Minsk". Built in 1953.

Irina sent this card from Belarus with a little info about her city and a trolleybus ticket pasted on the card.  I can't say I've ever had that before, but I quite liked it.  We don't have anything quite the same here!

She wrote,
"Hello Helen!
My name is Irina.  I'm from Belarus. I live in the city of Gomel.  Gomel is the second city in Belarus. I send you a trolleybus ticket from my city.  On the postcard you can see the chapel tomb of Princes Paskevich. this is one of the attractions of Gomel.

Have a good mood! Irina"

Natalia sent this card to me from Belarus.  She wrote a lovely chatty note on the back which made me quite happy, as did this yummy looking card.

"Hello from Belarus! :-) My name's Natalia.
I've read on your profile that you'd like to receive a post card with a pic of some national dish on it.  Actually Belarusian cusine is connected with potato.  It is even called 'the second bread'! On the front side of the postcard you can see 'draniki'.

It's a very popular national dish in Belarus. Actually it's potato pancakes.  They are made from grated potatoes with flour, eggs, soda and salt. (It's a recipe of 'draniki' in Russian)"

Ekaterina sent me this great card of Mir Castle on it.  She decorated the back of the card too, with drawings and all sorts of colouring on the back.

She also wrote some translations of words on the back.  She didn't write much, but what she did write was friendly enough.

I wish you a sunny wonderful day!!!

Natallia sent my next card from Belarus with a lovely stamp and a very nice note.  I really appreciate it when people take the time to tell me a little about themselves.

This pretty card came all the way from  Zhanna in Belarus.

She wrote," Hello.  My name is Zhanna. I do not know you like my card or not, but I chose it with pure heart.  The end of January, as I have already snow melts in the whole. You walk down the street and it seems that is about to sing the birds, but realize that is it not.  Children squish puddles, older people try to bypass them, but still come home all wet.  Have a nice day =)

Natalia sent this with a lovely note about herself.  While I enjoy learning about the subject on the cards, I'm usually more interested in the person who sent the card!  Natalia did very well writing about herself.

She wrote, "Hello!  My name is Natalia.  I am writing from a beautiful city of Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus.  I'm 29, and now I prepare to become a mother for the first time and this is very exciting for me.  I like to read different detectives and historical novels.  Now I'm reading the Agatha Christie.  It's very interesting.  I like animals, I like to have a good meal and admire beautiful things.
Happy :-) Postcrossing"

I don't really understand this stamp.  It looks a bit like a celebration during a war.  Do any of my readers know anything about it?
