Germany - Black and White Movie Card

October 31, 2015

I got this great card from a Postcrosser in Germany.  He wrote a friendly note on the back too.

"Hello, greetings from Tostedt in Germany near Hamburg.  I live here together with my cats in a small house.  I love animals very much, also 'Stan and Olli'.  I hope you will like my postcard for you.  Happy postcrossing, Klaus Peter"

Stan and Ollie

I think this lighthouse stamp is new.  It's rather attractive and the cancellation stamp is quite clear and centered on it so it is easy to read too.

Thank you for your card!

Taiwan - Shaped Card

October 30, 2015

Jasmine sent me this cool card from Taiwan with a short note on the back about the history of the place.

She wrote, "Hello!  My name is Jasmine, and greetings from Taiwan!  The Anping Fort is one of oldest castle/fort of Taiwan, and it was originally built by the Netherland people!

If you will, notice that the card is the same shape as Taiwan!

There was an interesting stamp on it, but I don't know what it represents.  Looks romantic!

Russia - Food

October 29, 2015

Sonya sent this decorated card to me from Russia.  She put many cute stickers on the back.  It's cute, but I'm a fan of the written word!  How about you?

She writes, "Hello!  My name is Sonya and me 21 years :-)  I'm a student at the Medical University :-)
With best wishes,
Sonya"

It is a great stamp, but sadly was a little ripped along the way to me.

Czech Republic - Black and White Movie

October 28, 2015

This great (and long) card came to me from Martina.  She wrote a very cool message on the back for me.

"Hello!

A lot of greetings from Martina, CR!  Do you know movie "Cotton Club"? I have read about it, but haven't seen it yet.  I have one adult son living in Prague.  He had a wedding this summer and he and his bride spent their honeymoon in Japan.  I saw many photos and it was an amazing experience for them.

Happy Postcrossing!  Martina

Do you really like Craig's Bond?  I love Sean Connery!"

Like Martina, I have read and heard about The Cotton Club, but I haven't seen it.  I think I was a snob about the music when it came out, now I'd probably like that, but it hasn't been on TV in ages.

I explained to Martina in my thank you note that as much as I love Sean Connery as Bond, he just couldn't do the part anymore due to his age, so I think that Craig is a worthy successor.

I love it when people ask me about the things on my profile!

I posted these stamps sideways as I wanted you to be able to see them properly.   I really like them!

Thank you for a great Postcrossing Martina!

Russia

October 26, 2015

Sadly this card arrived without any writing on the back at all.  There are a few rubber stamp prints, one says "Greetings from Russia!", another "from Russia with Love" and still another has the "Par Avion" airmail mark on it.  However, the sender didn't write anything except my name and address on the back.

He did use some amazing stamps on the back, so while the front of the card is of a subject that I've asked not to receive (dogs), the stamps make up for it.  They are fabulous.

Russia - Food/Book

October 21, 2015

This cute card arrived from Russia recently.  Nastya wrote a cool message on the back for me.

"Hello! My name is Nastya.  I'm 21 years old. I'm from Russia.  I love music, cinema and theater.  I'm a cheerful person, but now I have a bad mood.  I hope that you're always fine.  With Love".  It is signed, but half of the name is covered by stamps, so I can't read it.

I rather like the bear on a picnic reading his book.  Funny!

Czech Republic

October 19, 2015

Zuzana mailed this card to me from the Czech Republic.  She writes a little bit about her town and the card she sent, then about herself, basically, my favourite kind of writer :-)

"I'm writing you from Orlova, Czech Republic.  It is a small town in a small country.  Despite it comes from 13th Century, due to mining there is almost nothing historical and beautiful left in  this area, but I really love the idea of having its own postcard anyway.  The blue cubic building is my favourite - library and the church at the left down corner is really beautiful inside.

My name is Zuzana, I'm 25. I work as a doctor.  I have lot of hobbies but absolute lack of time =) Today it was snowing outside, first time this year.  So make a wish!  Have a great time!

Love Zuzana

Zuzana used the beautiful Mucha stamp from the Czech Republic, but as I have posted it before, I decided not to do so again.

Germany - Writer

October 19, 2015

Lothar sent this fabulous card from Germany.  He has a nice note on the back too.

He said,"My name is Lothar and I'm from Wuppertal, a town of 340,000.  It's one of the greenest towns in Germany and famous for the suspension railway.

Bye!

Rupert Brooke, pictured on the postcard was a rather tragic poet.  You can read more about him here.
Rupert Brooke by Sherrill Schell  (1913)
I thought that I had posted this stamp already, but when I checked, I hadn't.  It's rather nice.

Netherlands

October 17, 2015

Gijs sent this card from the Netherlands with a chatty note on the back.

He said, "We live close to the river Rhine and we love to walk here.  Now it's autumn and this card perfectly shows the atmosphere in the early morning or the late afternoon.  I'm a retired person.  Now I've lots of time for my hobbies. Postcrossing is one of them.  Recently I saw "La vie d'Adele" [Blue is the Warmest Color] which is a very good movie.  Best wishes, Gijs

I love getting a mixture of smaller stamps.  Aren't they cool?
