China

January 15, 2014

This next card wasn't signed, but it was hand written so I'm quite pleased.  The sender writes that she is 23 years old and living in Shanghai.  She has learnt Japanese because she likes watching Japanese dramas and listening to J-Pop.  She was surprised to write a postcard to a Canadian living in Japan (That would be me!)

She found a B&W portrait of a writer who was a French Philosopher, playwright, novelist, screenwriter...etc.  She is quoting the biography of Jean-Paul Sartre on Wikipedia. She quotes another line about him and then closes by saying that actually, she doesn't know anything about him!

Still, I admire that she tried. I don't know much about Sartre either.

Jean-Paul Sartre, 1971

I've had this bright and colourful stamp from China before, but this is a fairly good example of it.
