Kristine sent this card to me from Germany with a very nice note on the back. She even wrote a little in Romanji (written Japanese in English style characters).
She wrote, "Konnichiwa, anata wa Kristine desu. I have studied japanese for some years at the evening school in Berlin but I have lost most of it because I do not use it. Now I study Arabic - that is very helpful in Berlin now- we have a huge Arabic community.
Best regards from Berlin"
Calligraphy - the art form of the written word--is still practised throughout the emirate and makes for prized souvenirs. You can find calligraphers at work in art studios throughout Abu Dhabi. |

I love this! I have a similar picture on my wall, but of a girl writing in Arabic with an ordinary pen.
Lovely!
I was very pleased to get this card. I enjoy all facets of writing and this was one I hadn't even thought about as a subject for a postcard!
