Julia sent me this interesting card with a book connection. She gave me a great explanation about the writer and how it affected her, so made this very interesting to me!
She wrote,
"Hi Helen,
I chose this card for you! Rachel Carson wrote 'Silent Spring' in 1962 but I didn't find it until the 80's. I wouldn't say it's my favorite book, but it's one that ignited my interest in the environmental movement. Ms. Carson was so brave to sound the alarm. Our own U.S. EPA can trace its roots to her work.

I think this is the first time I've seen this particular US stamp. I really like it. The shape works well with the picture.
