Writer - Black & White Card

Germany

July 8, 2026

Dany sent this card of German author Bettina von Arnim who lived from 1785-1859. I looked her up but her Wiki wasn't very positive towards her.

Dany said that she studied Linguistics so she's interested in anything to do with languages and texts, and books. She said that von Arnim wrote about social and feministic topics in the 19th century. Her face even adorned banknotes and stamps!

There were some cute stamps on the card as well.

France - Actor in Black & White

May 2, 2019

This black & white card came to me from Thierry in France.  He wrote a nice note on the back too.

He wrote;

Hello Helen, for you, I found and choose this postcard with the actor Leonardo Di Caprio, it's one of my favorite.  Hope you like it. I'm Thierry, 54 old from Cogolin, in the southeast of France.

All the best,
Thierry

This card was scratched on the surface. The scan doesn't show too much of it, except a little in the upper left side of the picture.  It arrived with another card that was more damaged, so it was a bad day at the post office!

 I really like the flamingos on the stamp. They're lovely!

Netherlands

May 2, 2019

This card came from the Netherlands and was sent by Jolanda. It was a little hard to register the card since the Dutch post office stamped over the number on the back.

She also decorated the entire back of the card. That meant there wasn't much room on the back for her to write a note.  She wrote a little though.

I do have to say that sadly this card, and the next one, were damaged on their way to me.  It was a rainy day when it arrived, perhaps the card got wet?  I'm not sure.

Jolanda wrote;

Hello from the Netherlands.  Today it is 25

My name is Jolanda.

I live in Eindhoven

On the front you see a lumenprint.
