China - Food

 June 25, 2020

This lovely card arrived back in June from Caiute.  She wrote a short but friendly note on her card.

She said;

Hello! A greeting from China! My name is Caiute. This food is "Instant Spicy Steampot", from Chengdu City. I like it.  Best Wishes!

The fish and the kitty on the back of the stamp is a big sticker. I was able to get a good copy of it for you.

China - Flowers

October 8, 2019

This pretty card with amazing stamps came to my door in October and I'm just now blogging about it. Sigh.

Alfred sent this card with a very short note on the back.

He wrote,

"Hi! Greetings from China!  These days the weather is very hot. I hope a cool autumn.  Alfred"

I love the bottom stamp (is that a pun?). I think it might be the story of The Emperor's New Clothes.

China

July 8, 2019

This card came to me from China and has a short but enthusiastic message from the sender.

He wrote;
"Greetings from China. Do you like roller coaster? Do you like adventure and excitement. I've never been on it, so I bought this postcard from nanluoguxiang in Beijing.  Welcome to China.

China - Food

January 2, 2019

This cute card came to me from China with a short but friendly note on the back.

Daisy wrote,

Hello from China.
The famous biangbiang noodle of Shaanxi province.
The name of this noodle is very difficult to write in Chinese.

Daisy from Shanghai.

The kanji for biangbiang is very difficult!
A great assortment of stamps!

China

August 7, 2018

This card came from China with an unneeded apology.  The sender didn't sign the card, and his name is written on his profile with Chinese characters so I can't read it.

He wrote;

Sorry. I don't have a postcard you like, but I have a stamp from musician Beethoven, hoping to make up for it.

I have no idea where this picture is.  Any readers?
These are great stamps.  The Beethoven one is really interesting, but so is the winter wonderland one!

This pretty little card came from Sun in China.  She wrote a short note and used a lot of stamps on her card.

She wrote:

Hello.
My name is Sun.
I like collecting
steamps[sic]. There are a lot of
lovely cartoons in Japan.
Sun

It is quite unusual to see so many stamps on a postcard, but I rather like it!

Thanks Sun!

I received this lovely card from Danbo in China. He dashed off a short note and used some gorgeous stamps on the card.  What's not to like about that?

He wrote,
"Ni-hao!  This is the world natural heritage - Guilin scenery of Southwestern China!
Happy Postcrossing!

China

September 8, 2017

This card came to me from China and was sent by a person who wrote her card in Japanese using Google Translate.  I don't know why she did that as she said that she wanted to write in English (according to my husband).  I don't read Japanese and I say that in my profile so perhaps she doesn't read English that well either.

Unfortunately I can't transcribe what she wrote on the back of the card. It seems friendly enough however.

She also used a pretty stamp, so I'm happy that she did send the card to me.

I have no idea what this card represents!
I do like the bird stamp, however.

China

July 29, 2017

This card came to me from China.  There was nothing personal written on the back at all, not even Happy Postcrossing!  To say I am disappointed is an understatement.  On the other hand, the stamp is great, and this entry didn't take very long to put up!

The tiger stamp is gorgeous...not sure if I've posted it before.

China - Craft

July 24, 2017

I received this card after a few days away, so I'm not entirely sure which day I received it.  However, I registered it on July 24, 2017.

The back is written in pink ink and some of it is faded and smeared...the back of the card may have gotten wet at some point.  Some of the writing is illegible, sad to say.

Muyue wrote,

Hi, Helen

Greetings from China.

I'm Muyue and 26 years old.
This card shows a hand-made cloth
given to my favorite writer.  She spent
her life as herself mind and wrote so
many novels.  But she was dead when I am
born.  Good luck.

A beautiful vase.

China

January 31, 2017

This card came from China with a friendly message on the back from Chen Jie.  She also wrote something in kanji that I cannot translate.

She wrote,

"Hi, Helen. I'm Chen jie, a girl from China.  I hope you will like the post card.
Hope you a good day! 😊 "

This card looks like it should be a manga card, but there isn't any information on the back.
It reminds me a bit of Sherlock!

This stamp is from the Beijing Olympics. I think it is quite beautiful in its simplicity.

China/Japan - Art

December 12, 2016

This friendly card was mailed in China but was bought in Japan.  That's a little odd, but....

Max wrote,

"Hi Helen!
Greetings from China!
This is card I bought in Japan this summer.  I went to Tokyo this summer vacation.  It was a great trip! I hope that I can visit Japan again!

Now I'm a university student in the west part in our country.  Have a nice day!  Max."

I don't know if the sender knows or not, but this is quite a common card in Japan and I've even sent copies of this picture out to people myself!

53 Stations of Tokaido/
Ando Hiroshige
This is quite a beautiful stamp.  It's on the left side of card for a change.

China - Unregistered

August 19, 2016

This charming card arrived with a friendly note on the back and I was happy to receive it.  Unfortunately, when I tried to register it, it came back as having the wrong number on it.  I filled out the form to have it traced, but it told me that the card was sent over a year ago, so I couldn't register it.  It is a real shame, because it is beautiful and I want to.

Sure enough, when I looked carefully, the card is dated 2015.9.2, but the postmark reads 2016.08.12. I wonder what happened.  Did it languish in a drawer somewhere and the sender thought she's send it off?  Did the post office lose it somewhere?  I'll likely never know.  I did try to look up the sender, but there are many people with a similar name and I can't be sure who sent it.

If by chance YOU sent it, please write me a little note underneath.  I really like your card and I wanted to tell you so in a thank you note!

Susie wrote,

This is Susie from SHEN ZHEN, China.  I'm a translator and I love travels.  Though I've never been to Canada or Japan, hope one day I can visit both of these two beautiful countries.  The background of this postcard is one of the most beautiful and charming places in China--YANG SHUO. It's a natural landscape.  The ancient poetry on the right side means, do not say there is no wonderful scenery in the world until you visit YANG SHUO. WISH YOU A HAPPY LIFE.

China

April 20, 2016

I received this card from Bao Xing in China.  He didn't write a lot on the back of the card, but it was friendly and nice.

He wrote, "Hello: greeting from China!  My name is Bao Xing, 30 Y.O. guy from the south China.  I haven't been to any foreign countries, but I always want to visit some.  I pick this deer card for you, hope you like it!  Take care!"

There was a preprinted stamp on the card too, but additional stamps on the bottom left! I thought these were cute.

China - Food

March 25, 2016

This personally embellished card came my way from Lin in China.  She decorated the back with stickers and coloured writing, it looks like she took her time with it.  It's great.  She even wrote some Japanese on the front of the card.  Too bad I had to ask my husband what it said, but that's on me, not her.

She wrote, "Hello! Greeting from CHINA! :-)  My name is Lin.  I'm 13 years old.  I live in Hainan Island of China.  There is very hot now! :) I like eating cakes, so I chooes this cake postcard for you! I'm a new PCer.  hope you can like this card!  Japan is a beautiful country! I like Fuji mountain! Last, hope you have a nice day! :-)"

Thanks Lin!  I hope you have as much fun as I have doing Postcrossing.  I think you are off to a good start!

This long card arrived from Chop in China.  He sent me a card with a very short note on the back.

"Hi!  Greetings from South China.  This is a Mural card.  Hope U like it; Best Regards!  Chop 2016. 1. 31.

These are the stamps on the back of the card.  The one in the middle is printed onto the card, the other two are real stamps.  The red and white stamp is quite lovely.

China - Movie

March 1, 2016

Cassie sent this movie related card to me from China with a lovely note on the back

She wrote, " Greetings from China. XD.
I'm Cassie. 17y.o. I live in Beijing the capital city in China with my mom.  I like watching movies very much too.  This card is the movie <<The Little Prince>>. I like this story. And when I was in Grade 2 of senior high school. I took part in the Drama Club and played this story. Best Wishes Cassie"

I've never read The Little Prince.  Or I have tried and didn't get through it.  Not really sure.  I know people love it, but it sounds a bit boring to me.

Beautiful stamps.  I'm not sure if these are repeats or not.

China

December 9, 2015

Allan sent this pretty card to me from China.  Unfortunately it became rather bent and battered along the way, but the picture is breathtaking I think.

He writes, "This is the Tianchi Lake in the Changbai Mountain in the northeast of China.  Hope you will like it.

PS. I always love the cards from Japan. If you can, send me a card from Japan.  Thank you.
From Allan, Shanghai, China 2015.11.14"

I wrote back to Allan thanking him for my card, but telling him that I do not send reply cards back to people.

Tianchi Lake

Really lovely floral stamps.  It's like a mini-bouquet.

China - Book

December 7, 2015

I was complaining yesterday about people thinking I don't speak English, but this card redeemed most of my faith in people.  It is from a young woman in China who writes English very well, and was very friendly.

She writes, "Hi Helen!  This is Yichun from Peking University, Beijing, China.  I also love reading, so I send you a cover of a Penguin book.
I am a huge fan of movies,  and I believe that the prettiest actress in history was Greta Garbo in Anna Karenina :) As for recent ones, I love Pixar, Disney, Harry Potter. Nolan and so on.  Happy Postcrossing!"

I think my mum might have had a copy of this exact novel!

The stamp is quite interesting, but I don't know anything about it.

China - Food

November 25, 2015

Simple sent this car from Tianjin City.  I'm not sure if she was supposed to separate the card or not, but she didn't, so it is a big square.  I kind of like it that way.  She used gorgeous stamps too.  Have a look!

She wrote, "Hello.  Best greetings from China Tianjin City.  This card is Chinese traditional breakfast.  There are a lot of people choose this for breakfast.  I hope you can like it and have a nice day :)  Simple  2015. Nov. 14"

It reads,"Youtiao-Famous pastries of Shanghai
Youtiao are deep-fried twisted dough sticks.
Light and crispy, youtiao is a traditional breakfast
for the local people.

These are really gorgeous stamps.  I can't even pick a favourite from this group, they are all so nice! Remember, you can click on the picture to see it a bit larger.

Thank you Simple!
