Ukraine - Tea

April 18, 2017

I received this card from the Ukraine while I was off line.  I love it, which is why I want to share it with all of you!  It comes from Alexandra.  She wrote a lovely note on the back and used a Ukrainian Postcrossing stamp, so it was a lovely little treat for me at a difficult time.

She wrote,

"Hello Helen!  My name is Alexandra. I live in Ukraine in the southern city of Odessa.  I work as a florist.  I'm fond of creativity, I like to draw.  In my free time I learn Chinese and English.  And I dream to visit Japan, China and Korea.

Have a nice day and good luck."

This Postcrossing stamp is truly lovely!  I like how the design on her sleeves looks a bit like stamps. It is bright and colourful and sweet.  Good job Ukraine!

very much and spending time

I hope you like this card :)
I chose this card, because
I like history.

Russia - Actress

January 23, 2017

This beautiful card came from Russia recently.  It was sent by Tatyana and she wrote a nice note and the back and used a great stamp.  Come along and read more....

Tatyana wrote,

"Hello from Russia!  My name is Tatyana, I live in Rostov.on.Don. on the south of Russia.  A couple of days ago I returned from Georgia (not state but country). There I celebrated New Year with my husband and our common friend.  Georgia is awesome country with awesome food and awesome wine!)
Happy Postcrossing!

Here's another look at the Postcrossing stamp and I think the castle stamp looks different from usual.  Maybe just me!

Netherlands - Actor

November 28, 2016

This card arrived in the mail from Sander in the Netherlands.  He wrote a lovely note on the back and used a Postcrossing stamp, so what's not to like?

He wrote,

"Hello Helen,
Greetings from Groningen, a city in the north of the Netherlands.  My name is Sander, work at the university.  I love movies too!  I visited Japan once, a few years , I was in Tokyo only, saw a few movies at the Tokyo Film Festival.  A lot of my favourite movies are from the 1970's: Jaws, Marathon Man, The French Connection, Deliverance, The Conversation, Chinatown, Das Boot, The Taking of Pelham 123 and more.  Great Period for movies!

Best Wishes,
SANDER"

This is one of the Postcrossing stamps from the Netherlands.  Very cool to receive it.

Russia - Food

October 31, 2016

This card has already been featured on my blog a couple of weeks ago during the Linky Blog Party for Coffee, Tea and Pastries, where it was very popular.  However, I didn't tell you about the sender of the card, nor show off the stamp, so I hope you enjoy this second look at the card.

Anja wrote,
"Hello Helen,

I'm Anja, 31. I live in Moscow, but originally I'm from Sankt Petersburg.  I'm really interested in languages because I'm a linguist working in a translation company.  I would like to learn Chinese but it's so complicated!

Lots of love,
                         Anja"

This is the Russian Postcrossing stamp.  Yay Russia.  I keep hoping that Japan will get one, but they haven't so far.  They did have an explanation about Postcrossing on the Japan Post Website for a while though.

Thank you Anja for a really cool card and stamp!

Netherlands

August 22, 2016

Gerrit sent this card from the Netherlands with a short and friendly note on the back.  I am enjoying these friendly notes, so much nicer than a "Happy Postcrossing" only.

He wrote,
"Hi,
I'm Gerrit and I live in the Netherlands in a place called De Lier.

Many greenhouses here where flowers, fruit and vegetable grow.

I do not have a favorite movie, but I like The Bourne Identity very much.

Happy postcrossing!"

I'm actually rather pleased with this card because it features my favourite flower, the pansy!  Look at their happy little faces.

And more bonus things...more postcrossing stamps!  Hurray!

Netherlands - Books

August 20, 2016

Caroline sent this lovely card with a short note, and a Postcrossing stamp!

She wrote,
"August 13, 2016
Hello
My favorite movie is mostly science fiction or disaster movies.  I liked 'Sunshine'(2007) for instance. And '2012'.
All the best.  Caroline"

A newer Postcrossing stamp I believe.  Cool.

Russia - Actress in Black & White

June 23, 2016

This lovely black and white card came to me from Russia.  It is of an actress that I hadn't heard of before, although I believe that she moved to Canada in her later years. The card was sent by Ivan and going by what he wrote, he is a big movie fan!

He wrote, "Hello! My name is Ivan.  I'm from Moscow.  This is a portrait of the famous Hollywood actress of Russian origin, Lila Kedrova.  I'm a big fan of the old movie.  My favourite director is Francois Ozon.  Especially for you I stuck a stamp Postcrossing first type.  And Stamp Russian-Laos friendship.  Good Luck!"

Lila Kedrova's IMDb profile is here and her Wikipedia page is here.

I like the stamps...I also like that Ivan mentioned them in his writing.  When I postcross, I'm afraid I often just stick the stamps on afterwards, I rarely write about them!
