Switzerland - Books

August 16, 2016

This lovely black and white card came to me from Switzerland and was sent by Heidi.  Heidi is the mother of the account holder and there is a note on the profile that she sometimes sends cards.  I'm glad that I got her!

She wrote,

"Gruezi
Books are also my passion since I was a school girl - We did not have a TV until I was 15 years old, so I read a lot.  We live near the beautiful city of Lucerne and I work part time as an accountant.  I recently tried to get a job at a library but failed... Greetings from Central Switzerland to Japan.
Heidi"

Isn't this just the cutest little stamp?  I'm not sure if I've seen a hedgehog on a stamp before!

Switzerland - Food Related

July 29, 2016

Simone sent this intriguing card to me from Switzerland.  I always wanted to go to Switzerland when I was a child.  I think it was because I read Heidi and wanted to meet her and Grandfather!

Simone wrote about the card and about the movies that she likes on the back, so I really enjoyed receiving this one.

She wrote,
"Greetings from Switzerland! We live here on the lake of Zurich and now we have so hot and go swim every day.  The picture on the postcard is a popular brand of ice cream.  All peoples love them! We say, 'Ich will ein Seehund-Glace' on English: I need a seal-ice cream.  I LOVE the movie Oblivion and the Man in the Iron Mask.  And Gone Girl.  The book "Cry Baby" is so crazy!! And I love to cooking, that's my relaxing. ❤️

Greetings, Simone ❤️"

She noted that it was 32℃ and sunny

Really interesting stamps, but as usual, I have no information about them.

Switzerland

April 22, 2016

I received two postcards from Switzerland during April which is a little unusual as I have only received 13 cards in total from Switzerland in my Postcrossing days.  This one came from Gioia.

She writes,"Hello!  This is a self-made postcard from Switzerland.  Spring is arriving here & everthing is getting green! I like the Pixar-movies a lot.  Best wishes, Gioia"

I think this stamp is quite lovely.  It says it is an Allium Cepa, which a little Google-fu tells me is a kind of onion.  So, enjoy it!

Switzerland - Chocolate!

April 18, 2016

This scrumptious looking card came to me from Switzerland recently.  Jacqueline sent it to me and it is cool because she has a connection to Japan!

She wrote,"こんにちは [Konnichiwa], I'm the mother of two adult children (F 25, M 23).  My daughter is living in Chiba studying Japanese in Tokyo.  I'll visit her in July, I'm very looking forward.  Since Aug. I'm learning Japanese.  My daughter still misses the Swiss chocolate.  So I have to send her some from time to time.  Ja mata  Jacqueline"

These are quite interesting stamps.  They seem to commemorate 150 years of the Swiss Red Cross.

Switzerland

November 25, 2015

Ulli sent this card from Switzerland recently with a nice chatty note on the back. I love it when people tell me about themselves or the card.

She wrote,"Many greetings from Switzerland.  My name is Ulrike and I live since 10 years in Zurich.  Original I'm from Germany.  I like to read, mostly thriller and if I have money and time, I like to travel.  This year we were at the Azores and a few years ago we were on Vancouver Island.  Happy Postcrossing.  Ulli"

A really beautiful bird stamp, it is just too bad the post office was so accurate with its cancellation stamp.

Beatrice sent this great card and stamp from Switzerland.  She put the weather and temperature on the card too, it was sunny and +22°C when she wrote the card.  Lovely!

"Dear Helen

Konichiwa - greetings from Switzerland :-)  I live in a small village near Zurich and love the lake.

Sometimes on Sundays I go on a boat trip or just walking in the woods.

Love + hugs  Beatrice"

There was a note on the back saying that she sent it later than she planned due to not having stamps.  Also, I thought it was interesting that the stamp hasn't been cancelled at all. It is beautiful.

Switzerland - Books

April 13, 2015

Danielle started her card off with a question!  She said, "Why I'll send you a postcard with books?  Well, i love the written word.  And i daily read in a book.  And myself i am a author:  so if i don't read I write :-) Therefore books--I am surrounded by books.  Kind regards from Switzerland"

The stamp on the right commemorates 150 Years of Diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan so it is rather an appropriate stamp for this card.

Thank you Danielle!

Ottox put a short and simple message on the back of his card.  He said, "Warm greetings from Lausanne and happy new year".

Le Chateau, la Cathedrale, et le Lac Leman

This stamp is rather interesting!  Have a look at the enlarged version.  It's very Christmassy.

Anneke sent me this great card from Switzerland.  She writes," Hi Helen, no movies, but a card from an Arthouse movie theater.  It means (sort of): artistic movies instead of dullness.  I like a lot of movies but can recommend "Intouchables".  She sends her greetings from Switzerland.

Google Translate said this was "Artistic sense rather than stupidity."
This is a rather cute little stamp.  It looks almost Christmassy!

Switzerland

December 31, 2013

I received this internet-printed card from Switzerland.  I don't really like them as the sender has never touched the card.  The "stamp" is printed on too.  I think they are impersonal.

However, the sender did pick a cool picture for me. It's a scan from a Swiss film called Les Petites Fugues.  He says that it tells the story of an old farm worker.  He buys a moped with his first retirement pension payment and he discovers his country.  He still watches the film with the same pleasure.

He sends his greetings!

Gabriella writes that she lives in a little town (pop 3400) in the Bernese Seeland.  She likes reading, penpalling, going to the movies, enjoying nature and animals.

She has two cats and works in Berne.

She used a lovely stamp and just look at that wonderful cancellation stamp!
