Czech Republic - Food

March 24, 2020

Belka sent this card from the Czech Republic in January, but it didn't arrive here until the end of March. Slow mail perhaps?

She wrote a long note on the back and my readers know that I enjoy that!

She wrote;

"Hello Helen.

Many greetings from the Czech Republic, Europe. This card shows a typical Czech Eastern [Easter?]  sweet bread (I do not know how better call it.) It is full of raisins and candied fruit. Around the card are Eastern [Easter?] eggs drawn by wax and then colored - the wax makes white pictures on the egg. It is my favourite technique, but unfortunately less and less people (women) color eggs for Easter [Easter?] .

Best regards. Belka

This looks so delicious!

An interesting stamp, it commemorates a Czech artist.

Russia - Food

March 13, 2020

This card came to me in an envelope from Katya in Russia. She sent along a translation of the recipe on the card which was a lovely thing to do. She also wrote a lot, which is nice to see!

She wrote,

"Hello Helen!
Konnichiwa! You received this postcard from 30 y.o. Ukrainian girl Katya. Now I live in Kaluga city, Russia, with my husband, our 3, 5 y.o daughter Tonya and our 1,5 y.o. cat Pixel. My hobbies are foreign languages (I know English & Spanish, learning Korean), music, Spanish and Asian culture. I love Japanese & dream to travel there some day!

I want to look at flowering sakuras!

As you like food, this card with a berries cake is for you.

Happy Spring!

Katya"

Along with the postcard and translation, Katya sent some cool notepaper in different fruit shapes.  It's really nice to receive envelopes with fun stuff in them.

This is just part of the envelope Katya sent.  Look at the very cool stamps she used!

France

March 11, 2020

This card came from Emmanuelle in France. She wrote a lovely message on the back about her area of France and her work. I like finding out about people in other places!

She wrote,
"Hello, Bonjour Helen,
Best greeting from France. I am 34 years old and I live in Chateaunova[?]. There is at 250km of Paris, it is center of country. Region of good wine, castles and goat of cheese. I love travel but I work a lot. I take care of disabled persons.

Have a great day

Emmanuelle"

Sadly, there was no title to tell me where this is.  Also, it has cancellation marks on the card.

Netherlands - Food

March 10, 2020

This card, with its delicious-sounding recipe, came to me from Tessa in the Netherlands.  She wrote a friendly message on the back and asked about Japan.  Many people ask me about Japan, but for most people, the Japan they want to see stops after Tokyo, Kyoto and maybe Osaka.  Up north where I live, it is much, much different. Life is slower and a lot less crowded!

She wrote,
"Hi Helen,
Greetings from Capelle[something] den Yssel, a city close to Rotterdam (2nd biggest city of the Netherlands).

I would love to visit Japan one day. I travel a lot, also for work but unfortunately not to Japan so far. What is a must see?

I love running & cycling or reading a good book.

The dish is mainly eaten as a side in winter. Happy posta,

Tessa"

Canada - British Columbia

March 9, 2020

This gorgeous card came from Marty in Canada. He sent this great card with a cool note on the back.

He wrote,
" Becoming excited. I accepted a new job that begins in two weeks. I will be cooking for children who are vegan or gluten-free or have other food allergies. It is a little overwhelming as this is a lot of responsibility. I will be ready. I have been searching the internet & Facebook and cookbooks to gather ideas and recipes.

Germany

March 7, 2020

This bright multi-card came from Tanja in Germany. She didn't write much on the back, sad to say.

She wrote,
" Greetings from Munich, Bavaria in Germany for you ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Interesting stamp mark!

This card came from Maree in Australia. She wrote a very nice long message on the back of the card.

She wrote,

"Hi Helen,
I hope this card finds you well and happy & having a lovely day! I was in Japan last year for a month for the rugby world cup - had lots of fun and made new friends from all over the world - saving for the next one in France now! ๐Ÿ˜

My favourite movies are very eclectic, I love The Blues Brothers, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Quiet Man, The Castle (Au), Hidden Figures & The Help - among many really! I also love books and again the range is diverse. I could never pick favourites ๐Ÿ˜ƒ!

Have started to crochet, but very basic level so far! lol! regards Maree ๐Ÿ˜"

United States of America - Black & White

March 5, 2020

Diane sent this card to me with a nice note on the back and wrote about her favourite films. That's a subject that I always enjoy, so this was a good card for me!

Diane wrote;

"Hi Helen,

Happy Birthday Month!

Walt Disney is a famous writer of sorts & Mickey surely is a famous actor!

I loved Mama Mia, Les Miserables, Bohemian Rhapsody & Judy, I really love musical & romantic movies.

Blessings, Diane"

Japan - Gotochi Card

March 4, 2020

An envelope arrived containing a lovely letter and three Gotochi cards from Norie in Gunma prefecture.  I didn't have any of the cards that she sent, so I was doubly happy to receive them.

I won't type out the letter that Norie sent, but I will paraphrase a little.  She wrote that she's been to Canada 5 times but has never been to my part of Japan! She asked me if I have travelled all
around Japan--not quite! She closes by saying that she would love to visit Yamagata someday!

This is the card that I registered with Postcrossing, the others are below.

This is the envelope with the amazing stamps and cancellation stamps that Norie arranged to have on the envelope.  Very cool!
