Australia - Maxi Card

February 7, 2016

I got this interesting card from Australia, but sadly the sender didn't write very much on the back.  He dashed off a quick note to me before he sent it.

Isaac wrote, "Hello there
Greetings from Victoria Australia
Here's a B/W portrait card for you
Have a nice day.
Isaac"

Australia - Maxi Card Actor

January 12, 2016

This very cool card came from Helena who lives in Australia.  She wrote a very nice message on the back of this card.

She writes,"I'm Helena, live in the Blue Mountains -130km west of Sydney.  Geoffrey Rush is one of my favourite actors-did you see "The King's Speech" or "Shine"? great movies!

I was born in Switzerland and came to AUS over 30 years ago.  My two children are adults and I'm grandma to two sweet girls.  Happy New Year! Helena"

Yes, I like Geoffrey Rush a lot and have seen both Shine and The King's Speech.  In fact, one of the most interesting little movies I saw in 2014 was one of his.  It was called The Best Offer and was quite unusual.

The card was pre-stamped, but there was an additional stamp on the back.

A very nice Postcrossing.  Thank you Helena!

Australia - Black and White Maxi Card

September 2, 2015

Dorothy sent this card with a lovely chatty note on the back.  I love the card and I love the chat! She obviously wrote the card while reading through my Postcrossing Profile.  I might sound like a bit of a curmudgeon there, but I'm not really!

"I saw this in your favourites & I had one, so here it is, just for you!  I hope you haven't received one in the meantime!  I didn't realize I'd kept it so long!  2004! Feb is a good month for birthdays, mine being on 10/2! You didn't say if you like living in Japan! I've not been there.  You'd be well settled by now.  Where DO all the expired postcards go?  I wonder that too.  Are they 'stolen', destroyed or just not registered.  It is very disappointing!I hope this one gets to you safely.  It's officially spring on September 1st.  The days have a spring feel already.  I do like sushi & miso soup! I'm sure you miss your family.  My siblings are all interstate & I miss them!  Have a good day - from Dorothy"

Usually I enjoy living in Japan, but there are a few things I don't like about it...but then I wouldn't like some of the things back in Canada either!

Australia - Maxi-Card

July 15, 2015

Kathryn sent this to me from Australia.  She and I have something in common.  We both seem to enjoy movies!

"Greetings from Australia.  My name is Kathryn and I live in Perth.  This card is a tourist boat in Katherine Gorge.  I have been in a very similar one in Geikie Gorge in Western Australia.  I had a great family holiday there when my children were young.  I also love the movie Dead Again.  My all-time favourite movie is Witness with Harrison Ford.  Best wishes, Kathryn."

I love the film Witness too...and Dead Again is in my Top 10 of all time!

Australia - Maxi-Card

July 14, 2015

This great card came with a very impersonal note and wasn't even signed by the sender.  That makes me quite sad!

He writes,"This set of maxicards has the theme of 100 years of Commonwealth management of lighthouses.  Picture is the Tasman Island Lighthouse, located at Tasmina State.  Have a good day."

However, the card is lovely and it is a maxi-card/first day cover, so I like it a lot!

Australia - Maxi Card

July 1, 2014

I received this second Maxi Card within a month of my first one.  I'm very lucky!

Margaret writes from Australia that it is 14℃ in winter. Brr!

She says that she is a grandmother who loves to read and knit, but she can only crochet squares!  She also loves to volunteer at her local hospital.

She asks me if I know G. Greer on the card and says she is a real feminist.   Margaret sends her best wishes for a Happy Postcrossing.

I do know of Germaine Greer, but for some reason I haven't read a lot of her work.  I really should as I do call myself a feminist!

The card was prestamped, but Margaret had added an extra stamp, which is gorgeous!
Thank you Margaret!  A great card.

Australia - Maxi Card

June 2, 2014

This little beauty popped up in my mailbox a couple of days ago! It is my first Maxi-Card and I am thrilled with it!

Anita sent it from Australia and wrote me a lovely long message.

She said that she was happy to see this postcard in my favorites. She has had it for a while, wasn't sure who to send it to.   The band is called The Seekers and it was one of her parent's favourites.  She says that her mother had an album of theirs and they listened to it often as she was growing up.

I did a little YouTube-ing and searching of the internet and realized that they sang the song "Georgy Girl" (amongst others), which for reasons my friends will know has been somewhat of a theme song for me over the years.  I was really happy to get the card and wasn't sure that I'd ever have my own copy of it.

The Seekers
Thanks so much Anita!
