Italy - Movie Card

June 19, 2018

I believe it was a short time ago I vowed to post twice a week from now on, but I had a couple of weekend trips recently and I wasn't able to.  Who knows if I'll be able to post regularly or not?  Not me!

I got this card from Michelle in Italy.  I'm sure I've had it before but probably not from Italy!  I don't expect anyone to skim through all 1400 or so of my cards to see if I've received something, just would hope they'd check to see if I received it from their own country.

She wrote a short friendly note and used lovely stamps on the back of the card.

Michelle wrote:

Hi Helen! I'm Michelle, 21 y.o., from Italy. I study Accounting at university of Benq[can't read it],
my hometown.
In my free time I like watch old films and Casablanca its one of this!
I wish you all the best!
Regards

Michelle

Really love the mixture of Italian stamps on the card.  There's sports, wine and a priest who was killed by the Mafia. With the latter, there is a film tie-in as well, as a film was made of his life.

Italy - Black and White/Actor/Actress

June 27, 2016

This great card came all the way from Italy with some lovely stamps on the back.  I thought at first that I had seen it before, but wasn't sure.  I couldn't see it on my Postcrossing wall, but I just scanned through my blog.  I received it before as a thank you from another postcrosser , but this time it is an official card.  I'm glad that I am able to show it off again!

Giada wrote, "Hello!  I write you from Milan in the north of Italy.  I'm slightly obsessed with tea.  I love traveling (I dream to visit JP!), reading, photography.  I love movies, I go to the cinema once a week, but I have a hard time picking just one movie as favourite =) Best Wishes GIADA"

Clark Gable-Joan Crawford in "La danza di Venere".
I love the stamps too.  I don't think they were cancelled as they are so easy to read.  The stamp on the left is right up my alley, the other is beautiful.

Thank you Giada!  I try to go to the cinema every week too, and I also have a very, very difficult time  picking just one favourite film.  In fact, I have a difficult time picking 10 favourite films!

Italy - Yarn

July 21, 2015

I spend a lot of free time with yarn in my hands, I'm a diehard crafter, so this card made me very happy.

Svetlana sent it to me from Italy with a short and sweet note. She wrote,"Hello!  My name's Svetlana.  I'm Russian, but live and work in Italy."

Could there be anything better than having a stamp (or two) with chocolate on it?  Only if the stamp tasted like chocolate!  There's a wikipedia article about the chocolate mentioned.  The stamp on the far left I don't know anything about again.

Italy - Black & White Actress

January 4, 2015

Marco writes that he is from an old and historical city in the north of Italy. It has full on works of art and rich delicious food and drink.  At Christmas he writes that they usually eat "TORTELLINI IN BRODO" and he asks if I know it.  [Not really.]

Writing about movies he says that he likes Casablanca too and also Two for the Road.  He says he saw "Girls Gone" the day before, but I think he means Gone Girl.  He says Ciao!

Elizabeth Taylor
An interesting little stamp and air mail sticker.

Italy

November 15, 2014

Agostino sent this great card from Italy with a nice note on the back.  He writes," How are you? My name is Agostino and I live in a city close to the sea north of Rome.  My hobbies are reading, parasailing (I think, his handwriting wasn't clear), cycling, collecting stamps and travelling.  Happy Postcrossing!"

The Roman Forum
I like this view of the Colosseum in Rome...it's nice to see it in context with other buildings.

Look at this lovely old stamp.  If the dates are to be believed, this is a very cool one to get!

Italy

March 25, 2014

Alena from Italy sent this card to me.  She wrote about the building on the card, a building that is very famous, but one that I have never seen in person.

She writes," I like the opera and La Scala theater is one of the most famous opera houses. From [the] outside it is much smaller [than] you'd expect, but the auditorium is huge (2800 seats) and the stage is one of the largest in Italy.  It was built in 1778 and soon became the center of the city's social life.  It even had a casino inside. The theater Chorus and Ballet groups are famous."

The poor card got rather eaten up somewhere along the way.  You can just see a bit of it on the picture of the card.
The stamp is quite unusual. It looks very official, rather than decorative.

Thanks for a great card Alena!

Italy

March 24, 2014

This interesting card comes all the way from Italy. It features two gorgeous and huge stamps on the back, which you can see below.

Sergio says hello from Trieste, a nice town on the top of the Adriatic Sea (northeast Italy).  Trieste was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy from 1382 until 1918. He signs off by saying,"Ciao."

Duino Castle

Look at these gorgeous stamps!  They  take up about a quarter of the card. I especially love the one with the jewelry!
