Anton writes, " Hello from Moscow, Russia!  My name is Anton, I'm 27 years old.  I love walking and collect stamps.  I hope you like this postcard.  In this year good summer, very hot, and I like it, but two days gone rain. =(  On stamps you may see fountain on random city of Russia.  I know English very bad, I'm learn Polish.
Have fun and Happy Postcrossing!"

These are great stamps, and I really like them!

Germany

August 25, 2014

Tina sent this card from Germany and said the postcard she is sending shows the Castle Eltz. She said it is a wonderful place to visit.  The castle was built in the 12th century and still belongs to the family of Eltz.  She hopes I like it, wishes me a great day and bids me take care.

Thank you Tina!

These are lovely stamps.  I like the top one, which commemorates the Council of Constance.

United States - Statue of Liberty

August 25, 2014

Susan sent this great, slightly oversized card of the Statue of Liberty.  I think it might be the first one I've received of the landmark.

She writes," I have many favourite movies.  I like all of the Godfather movies & the Star Wars.  I love Westerns and war movies.  Hope you like the card.  My roommate got it at Liberty Island last month.  Cheers! "

The Statue of Liberty stands 305 feet above the New York Harbor.  Next to the flag, it's the most famous symbol for freedom.
Thank you!  The edging of the card is deckled like a stamp by the way, I had to scan it against a dark background to show it off a little.

Netherlands

August 22, 2014

This colourful card was sent from the Netherlands by Monique.  She writes that she lives with her husband and daughter in Eijsden which is in the south part of the Netherlands near the border with Belgium. She continues to say that her son lives in Germany.

She loves to cook and read thrillers.  She hopes I will like her postcard and sends her best wishes.

Germany - Black & White - Actor

August 21, 2014

Anke sent this great card of George Clooney to me from Germany. She says that she lives in a small town and likes fitness, reading thrillers and watching movies.  She hopes I like G. Clooney and says she does :-).  She hopes she's the first one to send this card to me.  (She was!) She closes with her best wishes.

Russia - Black and White

August 21, 2014

Svetlana sent this card to me from Russia.  She writes,"Hello and the best regards from the Siberian city of Tomsk!  I'm Svetlana the lawyer, married, have an adult son and a charming little grand-daughter.  She is my happiness.  I also love movies.  One of my favourite old movies is "Bridges County Madison" with Meryl Streep."

In English, the movie is The Bridges of Madison County, and I like it too.

There is no information on the card about who is pictured. It's a postal shop card, so it may just be a model.  It's a shame as it looks like she should be a famous actress or model!

These flower stamps are so beautiful.  I really like them!
Thank you Sveta!

Germany

August 20, 2014

Achim writes that he is Achim and he's retired.  He lives in a small rural town. Part of his now free-time is spent searching or creating unusual postcards.  This is a part of a calendar leaf.  The inscription will tell you: "Behind the windows you'll never overlook the whole world." (From Spain)

Have always a good time.

I have never seen the firefighter stamps before, but I think they are great!

Thanks Achim!

New Zealand

August 18, 2014

John sent this beautiful card from New Zealand.  He wrote this short message," Greetings from N.Z.! I thought this sure might be interesting.  It is of my local mountain.  The stamp is of the same location as the postcard.  Best wishes!"

Mt. Taranaki (2518m) and the Pouakai Range, Taranaki, New Zealand

Sadly the stamp cancellation got a bit smeared in transit, but it is possible to see that it is almost the same view on it as on the card.

United States

August 18, 2014

Stacy wrote a lot on her card, which I really appreciate.  I love reading about the senders of my cards.  She wrote, "What an adventurous spirit you must have, to emigrate across the ocean~kind of amazing cultural change!  I send these greetings to you from the state of Minnesota (North Central U.S).  My favourite movie might be Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones). Harrison Ford attended the same small college I did (but 20 years earlier)!!  I work for the post office and LOVE riding my motorcycle.  Best wishes!!  Stacy :-)

France

August 18, 2014

Angeline writes a nice message.  She says, "Hope you'll like this card.  I'm Angie, I'm 30years old and I live in N...., a small town in Western France, located on a large area of Marshland, nicknamed "The Green Venice." Have a nice summer!"

This looks idyllic...almost out of a Pre-Raphaelite painting or something!  I love it.

China - Movie

August 18, 2014

Freya writes that she is a 22-year-old girl from China. She says that this is a movie card and she hopes I like it.  She sends her kind regards.

Tiny Times 1.0
I looked this movie up.  There's a small amount of information about it on IMDb.  It's a Chinese movie, as might be expected. I love getting cards from films I don't know anything about!

The first two stamps on this are great!  Very interesting.

Thanks Freya!

Finland

August 18, 2014

Susanna writes that she is a 21 year old girl from Finland.  She loves the views of Finnish summer nights like the one in this postcard.  She also loves pure nature too.  She closes by saying that she hopes I like it.  Of course I do!

I was quite amused by this card too.  I haven't played as much Angry Birds as some people have, but I have played a little. I'm not very good at it, so I laughed at the stamp!

Chile

August 18, 2014

This card came all the way from Chile and was sent by Gabi.  She writes with her greetings from Santiago, their capital and largest city.  She hopes I like this card showing Rapa Nui Island and it's characteristic Moais.  She wishes me a happy postcrossing.

Rapa Nui - Isla de Pascua - Chile
An imposing view of the Ahu Tongariki.  This stone monument has quite impressive dimensions, with some of its moais weighing as much as 100 tons.

I like the series of aeroplanes on the stamp.  She put them all across the card, but it was a nice way to see them.

Thanks Gabi!

Netherlands

August 16, 2014

Dutch Greetz wrote that she is writing my card with purple hands :-)  She washed them but they were still purple!  She found some kilo's of blackberries and tomorrow when it rains she will make lovely jam!  But now, she will relax a bit and write some cards!   She wishes me all the best.

'Jakki Willing' Paris, '93
1993 Fred George
I couldn't "find" this actress, so I don't know if Jakki Willing is her real name or if she is a model for Fred George.  Any ideas?

This strip of stamps is really interesting.  They are all connected.  I'm not sure how much they are for either.

Thanks for the great card & stamps!

Great Britain - Recipe

August 16, 2014

NerdBird sent me this card with fabulous stamps AND a recipe, so I am quite happy with it all.

She writes on the back, "Hello!  I'm from Denmark but moved to England 5 years ago.  Never regretted it :-)  I live with my two "free range" houserabbits, and my boyfriend lives just around the corner..."

Wensleydale: Askrigg and Aysgarth Falls
The blurb on the back of the card says that the village is where the TV series "All Creatures Great and Small" was filmed!  I used to love that show.

These stamps are so great!  I think a couple of them are quite old too.  I love the one with a 1/2 pence on it!  It's for the centenary of the first telephone call, which was made by Alexander Graham Bell.  We Canadians tend to claim him as one of ours :-)

Thanks NerdBird!

Two from Germany

August 15, 2014

This particular entry is a twofer....you get two for the price of one!  Both cards arrived on the same day, from the same country.

This sender was brief but friendly!

He writes, "Hello!  Hope you like the card from Bavanie-Germany!  I am from Austria but live in Germany now.  Friendly greetings!"

Denise writes that this is a friendly hello from her in Germany.  She often sends this type of card to Japan or China, but maybe even I, not being Chinese, might be surprised to see there's some Asian architecture there.   The kings loved to be international.

She asked if I would send her a card of my place in return.  She wishes me a happy postcrossing.

I actually never send cards back to people unless it is a swap that we have pre-arranged. What do you do?

Ireland

August 14, 2014

Brian writes, "Hello from Ireland.  Here  you see the Avoca Mill where many articles are still hand woven."
Weaving Museum at the Avoca Mill

This is an interesting stamp.  It's a machine tape, but it also has a picture on it!  I haven't seen one like it before.

Ukraine - Food

August 14, 2014

Julia sent this card from the Ukraine.  She wrote a quick message on the back of the card.  She said, "Hey! Greetings from Kiev!  I would recommend you to watch the film "North by Northwest" :)

These are some amazing stamps on the back of this postcard.  Most of them are first-timers for me!

Thanks Julia!

Germany - Actress

August 13, 2014

Steffi sent this card to me from Germany near the French Border.  She says the region is called "German Winestreet". She loves the movie "An Old Couple" and has seen it many times and she is still laughing! She wishes me all the best.
