Austria via Great Britain

February 12, 2020

This card came with a long note on the back about when and why this card was bought. I loved it.  Poppy sent it from the UK recently.

She wrote,

"Dear Helen,
Greetings from West Wales. I love to travel and recently visited Austria. I stayed in Salzburg. It is one of the best cities I have visited. Very easy to get around if you purchase a travel card for the trams and buses. I was there for New Years Eve.

I would love to visit Japan!

Have a great day!

Austria

This card arrived rather a while ago. It was sent by Monika who wrote a short friendly note on the back.

She wrote,

Hello Helen!

Greetings from Austria!
On this card you can see some impressions of our beautiful capital Vienna. My older son is studying there. W.A. Mozart is one of my favourite composers.

Best wishes, Monika

Vienna

This is a gorgeous stamp, really like it too.

Harold sent this beautiful card to me from Austria with some very interesting stamps on the back.  He wrote a friendly message on the back too.

He said,
"Servus Helen!
On one of the stamps you'll see Austria's most famous actor Christoph Waltz. I really love his performance and his impressive voice and I'm waiting for his new film 'Downsizing'.

Greetings from Vienna
Harold

Austria - Writer in Black and White

August 1, 2016

I received this great card from Sarah with a friendly note about her favourite movies.  I always enjoy hearing what people in other countries enjoy watching.  It is very cool when I enjoy the same films, or when I learn about films that I didn't know about before.

Sarah writes,
"Hello!  My name is Sarah, I am 25 years old and I live in Upper Austria.  Some of my favourite movies are:  Mary & Max, Lars and the Real Girl,  Night on Earth or The Legend of Princess Kaguya. Greetings from Austria!  Sarah"

Austria - Food

June 18, 2016

This lovely card came all the way from Austria.  Eleonora put beautiful stamps on the back too, along with a few stickers to make this a really fabulous Postcrossing.  However, you know me by now, I care most about the message on the back!  Eleonora does a great job I think.  What do you think?

" Hello!  With my husband I live in Linz, located about 200 km west of Vienne.  Do you know 'Linza Torte?' It is our sweet ambassador.  The earliest recipe dates from the year 1653, making it the oldest gateau recipe in the world.  Remember to follow your dream and to pursue your passion in life!! All the best to you! Eleonora"

Look at these beautiful stamps!  They are so gorgeous...I'd like to eat them off the postcard!

Austria

I thought Anna sent this card to me from Liechtenstein.  I was quite surprised when I first saw it, then a little disappointed to see it wasn't actually from Liechtenstein. I didn't know until I did a little research, but Liechtensteinklamm is in Austria! It looks like an amazing place to visit.  Someday, if I ever get back to Europe, I'll see if I can go there.

The card has some interesting stamps on the back, including a new-to-me Postcrossing stamp.  [When will Japan get to making a Postcrossing stamp?  That's what I'd like to know!]

She wrote, " Hello!  Have a nice day and never give up.  Best regards, Anna"

Gorgeous falls in Austria
Interesting and beautiful stamps...the Postcrossing one is very interesting!

Austria via Germany - Food

August 17, 2015

Wolfgang sent this card from Germany but he bought it in Austria.  He wrote a nice friendly note on the back of the card.

He said, "Hello, Greetings from Fulda in the center of Germany send to you Wolfgang.  This postcard comes from Austria.  In June I spent some days in Vienna.  I like this type of food very much, but I shouldn't eat it.  I wish you all the best.  Wolfgang"

Silvia sent this mountain card and wrote a short message on the back of the card. She said," I am Silvia from Austria.  I live in the near of Vienna.  This card is from Salzburg (a province from Austria) where I spent some days last month!  It is so beautiful there.  Happy Postcrossing"

Monika sent this gorgeous card to me with a lovely note on the back.

She writes that she has just visited the castle on the front of the card and really liked it.   She's a doctor and in her free time likes to read and travel.  Her favourite movies are Pretty Woman and Chocolat.  She asked if I knew them...I do.  She wishes me the best.

I can't say I've ever seen a stamp with bananas on it!  I really, really hate bananas to eat...lucky I don't have to eat these! They are gorgeous stamps though, all of them!

This card came all the way from Europe to me.  The sender wrote a message on the back to me.

Christa said, "My name is Christa and I live in Austria in Europe.  In September I'm going to work as an Au Pair in the USA, New Jersey for a year.  I hope you like this postcard!  Have a good one! Christa"

This is an interesting painting!  It looks like a version of the Mona Lisa, but I could be wrong about that. Does anyone know?

Austria

November 25, 2013

Monika from Austria sent me this great card in an envelope.  She included a magazine clipping as well, so it was fine for her to use an envelope!

She says that she lives West of Innsbruck, in a small market-town,  with 8300 people in the middle of the mountains.

She says that she came from Munich, and hopes that I am happy in Japan.  She closes with her best wishes for me.
007 Harold Sakata as Oddjob in Goldfinger(1964).
Thanks for your great card!

Anneliese sent this yummy looking card from Austria.  She said that she lives in the south of Austria in a very small town.  She likes writing, and eating delicious Austrian food.

She is enjoying the "Golden Autumn" days.

Anneliese used a beautiful Klimt stamp on her card too.

Thanks very much!
